A vacuum-assisted device can obtain several tissue samples through one insertion. It may be guided by mammography or ultrasound, depending on the finding.
Excision is considered for selected lesions after assessment. It is not a universal alternative to surgery or treatment for every breast lump. Ask whether the plan is diagnostic sampling or attempted removal.

Bring your imaging and any previous biopsy report. Ask why vacuum-assisted sampling is recommended, what alternatives apply to you, and whether a marker is planned.
